At this point, you may have completed the QSG and provisioned Jabra personal or meeting room devices. Admin users with the appropriate permissions can now configure the platform.
When Jabra devices are provisioned, they are added to the device inventory or room inventory and are automatically assigned a default standard configuration, which is a collection of Jabra-recommended settings that include a default firmware policy.
Admin users can begin remote management with Jabra’s default configuration or optionally customize it to suit the organization’s needs.
If an admin user manages a few Jabra personal or meeting room devices, they can adjust settings remotely of a single Jabra meeting room device or adjust settings remotely of a single Jabra personal device, without using a predetermined configuration and/or without having the Jabra device within a grouping (such as locations ).
However, if you manage many Jabra devices, it is recommended that you follow the subsequent configuration procedures:
For Jabra personal devices
- Pair your Bluetooth Jabra personal devices to the USB dongle (Jabra Link Bluetooth adapter)
- Create device group(s) and sort Jabra personal devices
For Jabra meeting room devices
There are two ways to provision Jabra meeting room devices into the platform based on your chosen strategy:
- Provisioning devices
Use the organization provisioning code to add devices (with built-in clients) as unassigned rooms to the room inventory. Name devices during provisioning, then later assign room configurations/firmware policies.
Note
The Jabra meeting room device that requires a room client for provisioning i.e.: Jabra PanaCast 50 Room System, always appears as an unassigned room after provisioning, and can be manually moved into a location.
For guidance, read the Device provisioning methods section in the End of QSG – Next Steps topic.
- Creating a room structure
Add a room (empty) to create a room structure (optionally you can assign a room configuration and/or firmware policy to the room) and then use a room provisioning code to provision a meeting room device directly into the added room.
For either of the strategies, you can optionally complete the following:
- Add a locations structure based on how the business organization is organized
- Move your unassigned or empty rooms into locations and add details to rooms
- Define a schedule for Jabra meeting room device firmware updates
Other optional tasks you can complete for both personal and meeting room devices:
- Configurations: use standard configuration with or without exceptions (For Personal or Meeting room devices) or create one i.e.: Create a configuration / Create a room configuration
- Assigning a configuration or Bulk assigning a previously created room configuration to many rooms
- Firmware: You can customize firmware policies in configurations to suit your needs
- Enable or disable firmware management
- Choose whether you want to Modify & set the firmware policy for specific Jabra device models
- Choose a specific firmware version for your Jabra devices to use, and others.
